Seiko Prospex JAWS 50th Anniversary Limited Edition - SRPL81

A thrilling tribute to a cinema classic, the Seiko Prospex JAWS 50th Anniversary Limited Edition (ref. SRPL81) is a highly collectible diver produced in a controlled run of only 5,000 pieces. Its blue and white ombre dial recreates an unforgettable scene from the movie, with the JAWS title logo standing out at 6 o'clock. Turn it over and the screw-down case back is engraved with its serial number, the film's boat, the "Orca", and a shark's dorsal fin breaking the surface.

The magnified day/date calendar shows the day in both English and Kanji, and a navy blue ceramic unidirectional elapsed-time bezel surrounds the dial. Seiko's caliber 4R36 automatic movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour with 24 jewels and approximately 41 hours of power reserve, with manual winding available. The 45mm stainless steel case combines a sapphire crystal bearing an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface with a screw-down crown and case back for 200 meters of water resistance, suitable for scuba diving. It arrives on a deep blue silicone strap, presented in its own JAWS 50th Anniversary collector's box.

Timepiece History

Seiko's story began in 1881, when a 21-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. The first watch to carry the Seiko name followed in 1924, and Seiko went on to introduce a long line of watchmaking firsts, including the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch, on December 25, 1969. In 2024, Seiko celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.

The SRPL81 is part of Prospex, Seiko's collection for sports lovers and adventure seekers in the water, in the sky and on land. Seiko's sports watch story began with the Laurel Alpinist of 1959, built for mountain climbers and field sports enthusiasts, and continued in 1965 with Japan's first diver's watch. Since then, Seiko's innovative technology has changed global standards for diver's watches. The SRPL81 marks the JAWS 50th Anniversary as a Limited Edition of 5,000, each with its own serial number engraved on the case back.
