Accutron Memphis 521 - 26A218

The Memphis 521 brings back the distinctive case silhouette Accutron first introduced in 1960, keeping the original's signature shape and rendering it in 904L stainless steel at 35.1 x 35.8mm, finished with a domed sapphire crystal.

Under the crystal, an iridescent black mother-of-pearl dial follows the contours of the case, set off by polished hands and markers that catch the light with every turn of the wrist.

Inside is the NM33 Precisionist movement, a resonator built around a three-prong tuning fork vibrating at 262 kHz, roughly eight times the frequency of standard quartz, for precision measured in seconds per year. A 904L stainless steel bracelet with a deployant clasp completes the watch.

Timepiece History

Bulova introduced the Accutron in 1960, the first watch to replace the traditional balance wheel with a battery-powered tuning fork. Among Accutron's designs of that era were its "TV watches," and the Memphis 521 revives one of those TV-shaped silhouettes, first introduced in 1960.

The 521 number also belonged to the Accutron 521 of 1960, an asymmetrical gold TV watch with an electric tuning fork movement and its crown on the case back, a placement seen as futuristic at the time. Elvis Presley favored its angular style, and the 521 was one of several watches frequently seen on his wrist. Accutron has since acquired an original 521 certified as owned by Presley and keeps it in its historical archive, and in 2021 Accutron reissued the model as the limited-edition Legacy 521.

The Memphis 521 debuted in Accutron's Fall/Winter 2026 collection, pairing the TV-shaped silhouette with Accutron's new NM33 Precisionist resonator movement.
