Junghans Meister Chronoscope - 27/4222.03

Sophisticated and quietly bold, the Junghans Meister Chronoscope (ref. 27/4222.03) wears a fir green sunray dial that shifts from deep forest tones to bright highlights as it moves. The chronograph's counters rest in the bowl-like dimples typical of the Meister range, while luminous hands, a date and a weekday display round out a face that balances heritage with modern function.

Within the polished 40.7mm stainless steel case, which stands 13.9mm tall, the self-winding J880.1 caliber drives the stop function and 30-minute and 12-hour counters, storing up to 48 hours of energy when the chronograph is at rest. A five-screw case back with mineral crystal, a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal and an ostrich leather strap with a stainless steel buckle complete the look. With 5 bar water resistance, this German automatic chronograph is a refined everyday companion.

Timepiece History

Junghans traces its roots to 1861, when Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law set up a workshop in Schramberg, in Germany's Black Forest, to make components for clocks, and the first complete Junghans clocks followed in 1866. By 1903, Junghans had become the world's largest watch factory, and in 1918 Arthur Junghans completed the nine-tier Terrassenbau, a terraced factory designed to bring daylight to every workplace that now houses the Junghans Terrassenbau Museum. Owned by the Steim family since 2009, Junghans still crafts its watches in Schramberg.

Meister has stood for reliable, stylish Junghans watches for nearly a century, with roots in the J80, the first in-house Junghans wristwatch movement, introduced in 1936. The line's design was shaped in the 1950s, and its chronographs carry a signature detail of the range: subdials set into bowl-like dimples on the dial.
