Seiko Prospex "Samurai" Automatic Diver - SRPE37

Bold, clean and built for the deep, the Seiko Prospex Sea Automatic Diver (ref. SRPE37) pairs a crisp white dial with a sharply contrasting black unidirectional bezel for a dive watch that reads beautifully at a glance. A fine grid texture brings depth to the dial, while LumiBrite on the hands, indexes and bezel keeps every reading clear when the light fades. The angular 43.8mm stainless steel case, screw-down crown and screw case back give this automatic dive watch a confident, ready-for-anything presence.

At its heart beats Seiko's caliber 4R35, an automatic movement with manual winding, 23 jewels and approximately 41 hours of power reserve, with a stop-second function for precise time setting and a date display at 3 o'clock. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface protects the dial, and 200 meters of diver's water resistance lets you take it from the reef to the office without a second thought. Finished on a comfortable black silicone strap and weighing just 126 grams, it is a serious dive watch you will happily wear every day.

Timepiece History

Seiko's story began in 1881, when a 21-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. The first watch to carry the Seiko name followed in 1924, and Seiko went on to introduce a long line of watchmaking firsts, including the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch, on December 25, 1969. In 2024, Seiko celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.

The SRPE37 belongs to the Prospex Sea line, a diver's watch lineage that traces back to 1965, when Seiko introduced Japan's first diver's watch, a self-winding model water resistant to 150 meters that was used on the 8th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition in 1966. In 1975, Seiko's Professional Diver's 600M became the world's first diver's watch with a titanium case, and Seiko has continued to engineer its divers around the demands of real underwater conditions. The SRPE37 carries that lineage forward with a 200-meter diver's rating, a unidirectional bezel and LumiBrite throughout.
