Seiko Prospex "Monster" Special Edition - SRPH75

Awash in teal-blue, the Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean Special Edition (ref. SRPH75) is a diver to be proud of, its textured dial graded in tone for a fresh, oceanic look. A unidirectional rotating bezel surrounds the dial, and LumiBrite on the hands, indexes and bezel stays clearly visible in low light. The 42.4mm stainless steel case carries SPECIAL EDITION on its screw case back, a quiet mark of this watch's special status.

Beneath the dial, Seiko's caliber 4R36 automatic movement offers 24 jewels and approximately 41 hours of power reserve, with manual winding when you want it. Its day/date display sits under magnified glass in the Hardlex crystal for an easy read, and with a screw-down crown and screw case back it is rated for 200 meters of diver's water resistance. Finished on a stainless steel bracelet with a secure-lock, three-fold push-button clasp and extender, it looks right at home from the shoreline to the city.

Timepiece History

Seiko's story began in 1881, when a 21-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. The first watch to carry the Seiko name followed in 1924, and Seiko went on to introduce a long line of watchmaking firsts, including the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch, on December 25, 1969. In 2024, Seiko celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.

The SRPH75 belongs to the Prospex Sea line, a diver's watch lineage that traces back to 1965, when Seiko introduced Japan's first diver's watch, a self-winding model water resistant to 150 meters that was used on the 8th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition in 1966. In 1975, Seiko's Professional Diver's 600M became the world's first diver's watch with a titanium case, and Seiko has continued to engineer its divers around the demands of real underwater conditions.
