Junghans Max Bill Damen - 47/7452.46

Graceful, slim and effortlessly elegant, the Junghans max bill Damen (ref. 47/7452.46) brings the purity of Max Bill's design to a refined ladies' watch. Its matt white dial features clear markings and hands with environmentally friendly luminous substance, with a date display that blends seamlessly into the minimalist layout.

The polished stainless steel case is finished in a warm sand gold colored PVD coating and measures just 32.7mm across and 6.9mm thin, so it sits beautifully on the wrist. A PVD-coated milanaise bracelet with a safety buckle adds a fluid, jewelry-like feel, and quick-release fittings make it easy to switch straps to suit your outfit. Inside, the Junghans J643.29 quartz movement keeps precise time with no winding needed, and with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and 5 bar water resistance, this quartz watch for women is as practical as it is beautiful.

Timepiece History

Junghans was founded on April 14, 1861, in Schramberg in Germany's Black Forest, when Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law, Jakob Zeller-Tobler, set up a firm making parts for large Black Forest clocks; the first complete Junghans clocks followed in 1866. By 1903, Junghans had grown into the largest clock manufacturer in the world, and in 1918 it completed its nine-level terrace building, the Terrassenbau, which today houses the Junghans Terrassenbau Museum. Owned by the Steim family since 2009, Junghans remains based in Schramberg today.

Junghans began working with the Bauhaus-trained artist and architect Max Bill in 1956, and the two created table clocks in 1958. In 1961 Bill designed Junghans' first line of mechanical wristwatches, which is still produced in nearly the same form. The max bill Damen carries that design language into a women's watch, guided by Bill's belief that practical value and beauty should go hand in hand.
