Product details

Seiko 5 Sports - SRPE51

Understated and confidently styled, the Seiko 5 Sports SKX Series (ref. SRPE51) brings a gray dial to a compact 40mm stainless steel case. At 11.5mm thick, the case keeps a trim profile on the wrist, and its design follows the SKX series. LumiBrite on the hands and indexes and a day-date display give the dial everything it needs for daily wear.

Seiko's caliber 4R36 automatic movement, fitted with 24 jewels, offers approximately 41 hours of power reserve and can be wound by hand, and the see-through screw case back lets you admire it in motion. A Hardlex crystal covers the dial, and the case is water resistant to 10 bar (100 meters) with 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance. The steel bracelet fastens with a three-fold clasp with secure lock and push-button release, making this a smart, versatile choice for every day of the week.

Timepiece History

Seiko's story began in 1881, when a 21-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. The first watch to carry the Seiko name followed in 1924, and Seiko went on to introduce a long line of watchmaking firsts, including the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch, on December 25, 1969. In 2024, Seiko celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.

The SRPE51 belongs to Seiko 5 Sports, a collection rooted in the Seiko Sportsmatic 5 of 1963, Japan's first automatic day-date watch. Seiko 5 Sports itself was born in 1968, adding enhanced water resistance, a strengthened crystal and luminous hands and markers to the Seiko 5 essentials of an automatic movement, a day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown and a durable case and bracelet, and it found worldwide favor as a go-anywhere watch. In 2019, Seiko 5 Sports was rebranded to carry watch culture forward to the next generation. Its design follows the SKX series, the successor to the watch widely known as the "SKX," a watch loved around the world.
