Alpina Heritage Automatic - AL-520BG3SH6

Clean, classic and confidently understated, the Alpina Heritage Automatic (ref. AL-520BG3SH6) proves that simplicity is its own kind of luxury. Its matte beige dial carries printed black Arabic numerals and a black seconds scale, while blue PVD dauphine hands add a subtle pop of color. The result is a vintage-inspired look that's easy to read at a glance and just as easy to dress up or down.

The 38mm two-part case is polished stainless steel with a solid case back and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and at just over 10mm thick it sits slim and comfortable on the wrist. Inside, the Swiss-made AL-520 automatic caliber winds itself as you move, and a black calf leather strap with a pin buckle completes this understated Swiss automatic dress watch.

Timepiece History

Alpina's story began in 1883, when alpinist Gottlieb Hauser founded a watchmaking cooperative in Winterthur, Switzerland, with fellow mountaineers, aiming to build robust watches for harsh mountain terrain. In 1938, Alpina introduced the Alpina 4, marketed on four qualities: waterproof, shockproof, anti-magnetic and rustproof. After a period of near inactivity from the early 1980s, Alpina was revived in the early 2000s by Aletta and Peter Stas, the founders of Frederique Constant, and it joined the Citizen Group in 2016.

Introduced in 2024 and available from October of that year, the Heritage Automatic brought the first round-cased designs to Alpina's Heritage collection, which until then had been home to the Alpiner Heritage Carrée and the Seastrong Heritage.

The design draws on Alpina watches of the 1920s. Where those originals measured about 27.5mm, the Heritage Automatic scales the look up to a modern 38mm for today's wrists.
