Junghans Meister Chronoscope - 27/4224.03

Understated and impeccably balanced, the Junghans Meister Chronoscope (ref. 27/4224.03) pairs a sapphire grey sunray dial with contrasting anthracite subdials for a look of cool sophistication. The subdials sit in the bowl-shaped dimples that define the Meister family, and luminous hands, a date and a weekday display bring everyday clarity to the layout.

Powered by the self-winding J880.1 caliber, the watch offers a stop function with 30-minute and 12-hour counters and up to 48 hours of power reserve when the chronograph is not engaged. Its polished 40.7mm stainless steel case features a five-screw case back with mineral crystal and a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal up front. Completed by an ostrich leather strap with a stainless steel buckle and water resistant to 5 bar, this automatic chronograph is effortless elegance with a sporting edge.

Timepiece History

Junghans traces its roots to 1861, when Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law set up a workshop in Schramberg, in Germany's Black Forest, to make components for clocks, and the first complete Junghans clocks followed in 1866. By 1903, Junghans had become the world's largest watch factory, and in 1918 Arthur Junghans completed the nine-tier Terrassenbau, a terraced factory designed to bring daylight to every workplace that now houses the Junghans Terrassenbau Museum. Owned by the Steim family since 2009, Junghans still crafts its watches in Schramberg.

Junghans developed its first in-house wristwatch movement, the J80, in 1936, and it became the foundation of the Meister series. In 1957 Junghans followed with the J83, its first automatic chronometer caliber, during a decade in which it ranked among the world's leading chronometer makers. The Meister Chronoscope honors that tradition of precision, pairing a modern automatic chronograph with the bowl-shaped subdials that define the Meister look.
