Seiko 5 Sports - SRPD51

Sporty, versatile and unmistakably Seiko, the Seiko 5 Sports SKX Series (ref. SRPD51) pairs a rich blue sunray dial with a matching blue unidirectional rotating bezel for a look that works with almost anything you wear. Its 42.5mm stainless steel case follows the SKX series design, and LumiBrite on the hands and markers keeps the time clear after dark. A day-date display adds everyday convenience, the same practical feature Seiko 5 watches have offered from the very beginning.

Seiko's caliber 4R36 automatic movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour with 24 jewels and approximately 41 hours of power reserve, and it can be hand-wound as well, while the see-through screw case back shows it at work. A Hardlex crystal protects the dial, and 100 meters of water resistance gives you peace of mind around water. The stainless steel bracelet fastens with a three-fold clasp with secure lock and push-button release, finishing a dependable everyday watch with the reliability Seiko 5 Sports is known for.

Timepiece History

Seiko's story began in 1881, when a 21-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. The first watch to carry the Seiko name followed in 1924, and Seiko went on to introduce a long line of watchmaking firsts, including the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch, on December 25, 1969. In 2024, Seiko celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.

The SRPD51 belongs to Seiko 5 Sports, a collection rooted in the Seiko Sportsmatic 5 of 1963, Japan's first automatic day-date watch. Seiko 5 Sports itself was born in 1968, adding enhanced water resistance, a strengthened crystal and luminous hands and markers to the Seiko 5 essentials of an automatic movement, a day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown and a durable case and bracelet, and it found worldwide favor as a go-anywhere watch. In 2019, Seiko 5 Sports was rebranded to carry watch culture forward to the next generation. Its design follows the SKX series, the successor to the watch widely known as the "SKX," a watch loved around the world.
