Seiko Prospex "King Turtle" PADI Special Edition - SRPK01

Bold, bright and proudly ocean-minded, the Seiko Prospex PADI Special Edition (ref. SRPK01) brings Seiko's official partnership with PADI to a rugged 45mm stainless steel case and matching bracelet that take their cue from one of Seiko's best-known diving styles. Gazing into its patterned blue dial is like looking up at the sea's surface from below, with sunlight streaming through the waves in shifting gradations. After dark, the LumiBrite hands and indexes give off a blue glow inspired by PADI's signature colors.

A blue ceramic unidirectional elapsed-time bezel, brightened by vivid blue accents, frames a magnified day/date display beneath a sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating. Seiko's caliber 4R36 automatic movement runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour with 24 jewels and approximately 41 hours of power reserve, and it can be wound manually as well. Sealed by a screw-down crown and a SPECIAL EDITION screw case back for 200 meters of diver's water resistance, it closes with a three-fold push-button clasp complete with secure lock and extender.

Timepiece History

Seiko's story began in 1881, when a 21-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. The first watch to carry the Seiko name followed in 1924, and Seiko went on to introduce a long line of watchmaking firsts, including the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch, on December 25, 1969. In 2024, Seiko celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.

The SRPK01 belongs to the Prospex Sea line, a diver's watch lineage that traces back to 1965, when Seiko introduced Japan's first diver's watch, a self-winding model water resistant to 150 meters that was used on the 8th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition in 1966. In 1975, Seiko's Professional Diver's 600M became the world's first diver's watch with a titanium case, and Seiko has continued to engineer its divers around the demands of real underwater conditions. With the SRPK01, that diving heritage meets Seiko's official partnership with PADI on a 45mm case and matching bracelet.
